James worked on paving a large portion of a private road that I live on. The road was in extremely bad shape and he fixed it right up. There was a small issue that arose a few months later and he was very responsive and responsible. He came and fixed the problem right away. I would definitely recommend his services.

There's the old adage - "Cheap, Fast or Good, pick two". It is rare to find someone who can do all three, and when I do, I like to share it. Our 5,000 sqft asphalt driveway was a decade old, and was holding up okay - no cracks yet, but the weather was leaving it pitted and grey. I knew I was just biding my time unless I got it sealed soon. I had heard good things about James Steel Engineering, so I gave him a call. I was a little disappointed when he said he had a two week backlog, but figured it meant he did good work , and waited. He ended up with an opening sooner than he thought, so he came out and measured, and gave me a very competitive price. I had priced out doing it myself, and figured it would cost me more than half what he quoted, and would take me four full days, and I would not get results this good, so I agreed right then and there. He had an opening later in the week, so he got it done quick, and the results exceeded my expectations. Stop reading, go call him.

We had a major drainage problem along the edge of our property that was starting to undermine the driveway. James had the most comprehensive and cost effective bid. They leveled and filled the area, paved over the section with asphalt and filled in above the asphalt to redirect the water. I contacted James Steel regarding repairing, build up an asphalt berm, and applying a thick seal coat for our driveway. James answered my phone call and we set up a time that same week to come to our house and give us a price quote. He arrived prompt at our house and was very professional and knowledgeable. My husband and I , after meeting with James decided they day to hire James for the job. That following week James arrived promptly at our house and did what he said he was going to do. The work was fantastic and precise . He used high quality products, put on a thick seal coat , and our driveway looks new again. We met with 5 different contractors to get bids on fixing our front steps. The walkway was all broken down and becoming quite a hazard. It's a steep hill that initially had rotted railroad ties loosely placed into the dirt and every time we walked over it, it was apparent that an accident was just a matter of time.

James was the only one who not only came in less expensive than everyone else, but also had better ideas. He replaced all the ties, mounted them into the hill correctly, and made sure they were properly reinforced. Then he filled all the gaps with concrete and step stones to give us a very nice, wide, custom stepped walkway. The finished product is truly a work of art. James' personality shines and it's obvious that he cares about his work quality and the happiness of his clients. We were given choices and opportunities for input all the way through the project- he even made a spot for our daughters to put their hand prints in at our request.

James is a true professional. It's very hard to find contractors nowadays who are as honest, reliable, cost worthy and as dedicated to their craft as James is. We couldn't be happier. I'll post pictures when I can!
